Who We Are
Wilson Blum consist of two principals, Steven Wilson and Jeffrey Blum. Steven and Jeff have been business partners for 30 years.

Steven started to take his artistic journey seriously by attending Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York where he received a Bachelors Degree in Art Education. After a short 5 year career teaching art in both San Francisco and Upstate New York, he returned to Brooklyn to acquire his Masters from Pratt. After receiving his Degree, Steven decided to stay in New York and focus on his second love, the theater, more specifically, dance. He worked in the entertainment industry choreographing and dancing for a year and after that  enrolled at the Manhattan Upholstery Trade School to learn how to reupholster a sofa that he picked up at the Salvation Army. There was no looking back at this point and Steven took to the trade and totally immersed himself into becoming a highly skilled craftsman of this dying art form. Steven then apprenticed with a master upholsterer in Darien, Connecticut for a year, and then once again returned near his home in Ithaca, New York where he and Jeff began their business.

Wilson Blum has been in business since the fall of 1979.  As accomplished professionals, we have always maintained the highest degree of quality and have honed our skills to ensure that each piece meets our standards. During our career we have taught workshops and hosted apprentices from furniture design schools.
Jeff's appreciation for fabrics began as an undergraduate at the University of Vermont where he was a theater major studying the "behind the scenes" technical side of theater. He spent several summers at regional stock theater companies working in the costume shops. Upon graduation from UVM, Jeff headed to the University of South Carolina to begin work on his Masters Degree in Costume Design. After a year of study he was offered a job at Brooks VanHorn, a costume company renowned for the costuming of the Ringling Brothers Circus and Saturday Night Live. During this time both Steven and Jeff were involved in the entertainment industry and Jeff designed and constructed the costumes for Steven and his Company. Over the 7 years of school and work he began applying his sewing abilities to his home and furnishings.
